Professional Background
Built in the Field, Not a Classroom
Jake Blair spent 25 years in the construction industry, building expertise in both the technical and business sides of contracting. After 16 years with Carrington Stone Masons in California, Jake relocated to Washington and established Heron Stone Masonry in 2020.
Currently serving customers throughout Kitsap County and Gig Harbor, Jake specializes in stone veneer, custom masonry, and outdoor living spaces.
But here’s what matters: Jake built profitable systems while running a real contracting business—not theory from a desk, but proven frameworks tested in the field.
The Built Right System is what I built to help contractors avoid the expensive mistakes most make when starting up. I’ve seen colleagues lose everything to bad pricing, equipment traps, and cash flow disasters. I’ve watched good tradesmen fail because they didn’t have the business systems to survive.

What Customers Say
Commitment to Education
While running Heron Stone Masonry, Jake saw a problem: the contractor education industry sells expensive, generic solutions that don’t address the real challenges tradesmen face when starting a business.
Most “business courses” are taught by people who’ve never run a contracting company. They teach theory. Jake built systems in the field—proven frameworks that actually work when you’re juggling estimates, managing cash flow, and trying to stay profitable.
The Built Right System gives contractors what Jake wished he’d had starting out: practical tools to avoid the $25K+ mistakes that kill 60% of new businesses in three years.

Beyond Work
Outside the jobsite, Jake lives the Pacific Northwest lifestyle—boating/fishing, family, and building things by hand.
This work-life balance inspired the system: helping contractors build profitable businesses that give them freedom, not just more work.
